The Afghanistan Challenge

Overview:

As part of the celebrations of 100 years of Rotary in Canada, we will construct a school in Jalalabad, Afghanistan with the support of international partners.  This school will provide over 4,000 Afghan boys and girls with opportunities for a brighter future.  The school will have 80% of girls and will be completed by 2011.

Objectives:

For District 7090 the target is $25,000. This initiative is being led by the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise on behalf of their District. This appeal may be more relevant to Canadian Rotary clubs, due to the fact that it is Canadian led, and will help to commemorate the sacrifices made by serving Canadians and their families.

To help us achieve our target we prepared a short video. We asked some children from Ontario to tell us what school life was like for them, and to reflect on some unique aspects of school life in Afghanistan. The children who helped to make this video put a lot of effort into it, and we hope that it helps you understand our deep commitment to this project.
